Melanie Hayes - Owner/Instructor
Melanie is the daughter of Sabrina Hayes, owner of Sabrina's Dance Academy in Waverly from 1981-2004. She grew up dancing from the age of 2 and was an assistant teacher and choreographer at Sabrina's by age 15. She also studied ballet, pointe, and jazz at Attitudes by Amy in Waterloo throughout high school. She was captain and choreographer of the Denver High School dance team, the Star Steppers and attended Just For Kix danceteam camps every summer where she was selected to dance at the half time show of the Outback Bowl game in Tampa, FL. Every summer Melanie continued her dance education by attending classes in Chicago, IL at the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters convention. She also attended a summer Broadway dance camp in New York City.
Melanie took a break from dancing after high school while she studied fashion design at the Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago. She also attended both Hawkeye Community College and the University of Northern Iowa where she majored in Statistics. Melanie is the mother of 7yr old Stella who also shares her love of dance. It is because of Stella that she has decided to return to her passion of teaching. She wants to provide a great dance education not only to Stella but to all aspiring dancers.
In the summer of 2018 Melanie again participated in a dance training school where she learned new routines and new way of teaching to each level of student. The training was provided by the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters in Chicago, IL.
